Oral hygiene
Preventative Dental Care
Keeping your teeth and gums healthy starts with good oral hygiene.
This involves brushing twice daily (especially at night time), and also using floss or interdental brushes daily.
However, even with these necessary habits, everyone benefits from a clean from the dentist/hygienist regularly, to remove any stubborn calculus that has developed and ensure gums are as healthy as possible.
For most people, this would be every 6 months, however, some people may require treatment more frequently such as every 3 months.
Regular hygiene appointments can help prevent: gum disease including – bleeding gums, bone loss, tooth mobility and loss.
People who may benefit from more frequent hygiene appointments include: smokers, existing gum disease, those with certain medical conditions such as diabetes and heart disease and those who are aware of a family history of gum disease.
Not forgetting the aesthetic improvements that can be achieved following removal of stubborn stains with an airflow polish afterwards!
